Rio de Janeiro plans US$145mn hospital PPP
The city of Rio de Janeiro launched a public consultation on Wednesday for a public-private partnership project to maintain, modernize and expand the Souza Aguiar hospital complex.
The consultation for the 746mn reais (US$145mn) project will last 30 days, a city hall spokesperson confirmed to BNamericas.
The PPP contract will have a duration of 32 years, with the requirement that 408mn reais of the investments be made during the first three years.
The winner of the contract will be the company that accepts the lowest annual services payment from city hall, the spokesperson said.
The auction date and its timetable will be decided once the consultation has concluded.
Souza Aguiar (pictured) is the largest public hospital in Rio de Janeiro and the PPP project will be the first for a hospital in the state. Other states, such as São Paulo, Bahia and Minas Gerais, have used the PPP model for hospitals.
The project is currently being designed by CCPar, a company recently created by Rio de Janeiro to structure PPPs and concessions.
