Yingli lands Honduras solar deal

Yingli Green Energy will supply solar panels to Sybac Solar for two projects in Honduras as part of the country's push to tap the renewable energy source.

In a statement, Yingli said it is delivering 25MW for the first phase of the 50MW Pacific Solar complex in Nacaome developed by EM-Power Corporación. The first phase is due online in August and the second in 2016.

The panel supplier also will supply 15MW for the La Manzanilla y Las Lajas project in Choluteca developed by Energys de Honduras.

Earlier this month, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency announced it was supporting three SunEdison solar projects in Choluteca totaling over 80MW and due to begin operations next quarter.

In May, Central American energy authorities approved requests to connect three Honduran solar plants to regional grid Siepac after start-up of the country's first solar power complex.
