Brazil's next A-1 auction for energy from existing power plants will be held on December 5, the government said on Thursday.
Interested bidders have until October 31 to register for the round, which will offer supply contracts beginning in January, according to federal gazette Diário Oficial da União.
Energy from biomass-fired thermoelectric plants will be sold on the regulated market by availability, with contracts ending in December 2017.
All other sources will be negotiated by quantity, with supply terms ending in December 2017 or December 2019.
Details of the round and ceiling prices for each energy source will be published at least 15 days before the auction.
Distributors have until November 24 to present documents outlining their 2015 energy requirements, the government added.
