LATAM Airlines to invest in Brazil's Guarulhos airport

The Brazilian unit of LATAM Airlines Group has announced an investment to build a new maintenance hangar at Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil.

The company, formed by the merger of Chilean and Brazilian airlines LAN and TAM, respectively, said it will invest 130mn reais (US$41mn) in the project, which will serve all of the company's aircraft models, according to a report by newspaper Valor Economico

The initiative will be carried out under the built-to-suit model, which depends on identifying investors who are interested in long-term leasing contracts.

Currently, the company has most of its maintenance works at its unit in the city of São Carlos and constructing the hangar at Guarulhos airport will help increase the company's efficiency.
