Peru sets prequalification deadline for Kuélap cable car concession
Peru's private investment promotion agency ProInversión will announce on May 23 the names of firms prequalified for the Kuélap cable car system concession, according to an updated tender calendar.
Firms interested in pre-qualifying for the project have until May 19 to submit their initial documentation.
The project consists of the design, financing, construction and operation of a 4,400m cable car system connecting the town of Tingo Nuevo with the Kuélap fortress archeological and tourism site in Amazonas department.
With a total estimated cost of US$17.9mn, the project involves a 20-year concession, to be carried out through a co-financed public-private partnership.
PERU TAKES TO THE SKIES
The Kuélap cable car system is part of Peru's growing cable car project portfolio, which also includes the Choquequirao archeological park project as well as plans to utilize cable cars in Lima to better connect the center of the city with areas on its outskirts.
Austrian firm Doppelmayr has previously expressed interest in developing some of Peru's cable car projects.
