Unión Cuba-Petróleo (Cupet) is a Cuban state-owned company involved in production, refining and distribution of petroleum products. The firm was founded in 1992 after the merger of Unión de Exploración, Perforación y Extracción del Petróleo and Unión del Combustible. The firm produces approximately 19Mb/y of crude oil and close to 1,100Mm3/y of natural gas. In association with Cuban company Cimex it runs a service station chain. Cupet signed production agreements with PDVSA Cuba and Sheritt International. It is made up of 41 companies, 36 of which are state-owned divisions and 5 are joint ventures.
