Project Details

The project involves building a semi-electrified railway with seven stations, and acquiring rolling stock. Part of the line will run underground. The main objective is to expand the operations of the existing Quinta Normal intermodal station by connecting it, via railway, to Batuco. The project also involves building a tunnel at a depth of 27m. The railway will run underground from Quinta Normal station for 1.5km to Yungay where it will emerge near the Mapocho river. An aim of the project is to help turn the western sector of Santiago into a commercial hub.
