Bahia to offer US$1.4bn international airport concession in March
Brazil's Bahia state will auction the construction and operations concession for a 7.6bn-real (US$1.4bn) international airport in March, a spokesperson confirmed to BNamericas.
Officials recently presented project details to potential investors.
The first five of the 33-year concession are for construction and the facility should have capacity for 4mn passengers per year. The contract also includes adaptation works for and temporary operation of Porto Seguro airport.
In the meeting with investors, Bahia officials highlighted that demand and cost estimates were reassessed considering the damage the pandemic did to the airline sector, the spokesperson said.
The airport will be built in a region known as Costa do Descobrimento, a tourist area comprising the municipalities of Porto Seguro, Santa Cruz Cabrália and Belmonte.
