Chile, Peru financial services watch

Peru’s customs and tax agency Sunat will sharpen its focus on combating tax avoidance and evasion next year, state news agency Andina reported.

The agency will implement six initiatives, among them a scheme to exchange tax and financial information with more than 120 jurisdictions.

Chile’s financial services watchdog CMF has joined the Network of Central Banks and Supervisors for Greening the Financial System (NGFS).

CMF announced the move during the COP25 climate change conference, taking place in Madrid, Spain, from December 2-13, under the presidency of Chile.

NGFS has 54 members and 12 observers.

In the region, the central banks of Costa Rica, Colombia and Mexico, as well as Mexico’s banking and securities regulator CNBV and Colombia’s financial services watchdog Superfinanciera, are members. IDB and IFC are among observers.

Launched in 2017, NGFS is a group of central banks and watchdogs willing, on a voluntary basis, to share best practice and contribute to the development of the understanding and management of financial risks and opportunities associated with climate change.
