Congresspeople set position on current management of the energy and mining sector

This Congress of the Republic release was published using machine translation.

Congressmen from various benches established their position on the country's energy and mining sector during the questioning of the minister of that portfolio, Oscar Vera Gargurevich, who responded to the alleged omission of administrative sanctions in his sworn statement at the time of assuming the ministerial post, among Other themes.

Congressman Eduardo Salhuana Cavides (APP) regretted that Peru, being an oil producer, continues to be submerged in backwardness and poverty for years.

"Prices have increased, there is a fragile economy, inflation has risen, being the most critical factors for the poor people of the country because the price of food has risen and living conditions have deteriorated," he said.

He said that the Ministry of Energy and Mines is one of the most important for the national economy, which is why it is important to reflect on what has been done in recent years in relation to the strategic resources and vital resources that the country has thanks to nature, to put them at the service of development and the population.

He mentioned that mining generally contributes no less than 30% to the national GDP, an important factor of which generates work, industrial development, canon and royalties that in many cases are not used or invested in the regions of the country.

In her turn, legislator Marleny Portero López (AP) said that there is a lack of commitment to the most remote and vulnerable populations, which are those who suffer from the lack of electricity and who do not have the empathy of officials in that sector to disseminate the programs, which in some way would help to improve the living conditions of the population.

He called on the head of Energy and Mines to disseminate, promote and improve the change in the sale of energy in blocks and individually, informing the population of its benefits, from the economic and legal point of view that are more favorable to the population. .

Parliamentarian Bernardo Quito Sarmiento (PL) considered that it is not possible to reprivatize the oil wells that today have to be paid at international prices.

"Where are the defenders of the homeland, of this country, so that they do not continue allowing the surrender of our resources?" he asked.

Legislator José Luna Gálvez (PP) stated that Petroperú can be profitable as long as the inputs and materials at hand are used in a timely manner.

He considered that it is necessary to evaluate how to make the Talara refinery profitable, which has cost more than 5 billion soles.

"It will be profitable if the material is left for them to process and our own oil is not sold to others at international prices with very large profits," he said.

Congresswoman Isabel Cortez Aguirre (CD) said that it is vital and important that Petroperú assume these strategic assets and that Talara refines and puts the cheapest fuel on sale for the benefit of Peruvians.

He pointed out that the price of fuel is expensive because unfortunately it continues to be imported, that is, oil continues to be bought from abroad.

Parliamentarian Jorge Marticorena Mendoza (PB) considered that private investment is not against, but it is necessary for it to generate development and equality for Peruvians.

"In this case, the resource that is managed in the city of Piura must be managed by the State, due to a strategic energy situation in the State," he specified.

In turn, Pedro Martínez Talavera (AP) expressed that the success of a company lies in the efficiency and honesty of its workers, referring to Petroperú.

"There was much talk about the massification of gas and we have many towns in Lima, Arequipa and throughout the country that do not enjoy the massification of gas, while we continue to give this resource to Mexico," he asserted.

Finally, congressmen Víctor Flores and César Revilla of the Fuerza Popular bench considered that it is necessary for the State to guarantee all operations, transactions and contracts at the national level so that free enterprise can continue.

“The idea is that the State provides the facilities to extract and export. We are rich, but with promises and expectations, but it is time that we begin to live from the realities with the purpose that these resources favor the population”, Flores pointed out.
