São Paulo water utility tenders works in 9 cities

São Paulo's water utility Sabesp has called three electronic tenders valued at a total of 53.7mn reais (US$17.4mn) to improve water and sewerage services in nine Brazilian cities, according to bid call documents.

Budgeted at 34.1mn reais, the largest one involves providing operational and commercial services under the company's water loss and energy efficiency program.

The work, which is being supported by Japan's International Cooperation Agency (JICA), will take place in the Baixada Santista coastal region near the city of Santos, affecting the cities of Itanhaém, Mongaguá, Peruíbe, Praia Grande, Cubatão, and São Vicente.

Companies may request bid clarifications until April 13 and proposals are due April 18, the tender document said.

The utility also launched an 11.3mn-real tender to contract engineering services aimed at maintaining and expanding water and sewerage systems in the coastal cities of São Sebastião and Ilhabela, just north of the Baixada Santista region.

Tender clarifications can be sought until April 11 and offers are due April 13, according to the procurement notice.

Finally, Sabesp called an 8.25mn-real tender focused on reducing water loss in the city of São Bernardo do Campo, just south of state capital São Paulo. Required works are pressure and leakage control as well as infrastructure updates aimed at improving performance in the city.

Interested parties may request tender clarifications until March 28 and offers are due March 30, the bid document said.
