Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (Petrotrin) is a state oil company linked to the Trinitarian Finance minister and supervised by the Ministry of Energy and Energy Affairs. The company focuses on exploration, development and production of hydrocarbons, as well as manufacturing and marketing of petroleum products. Incorporated in 1993, Petrotrin is the result of the merger of state oil companies Trinidad and Tobago Oil Company Limited (Trintoc) and Trinidad and Tobago Petroleum Company Limited (Trintopec). Later, in 2000, Trinmar operations also became part of the company. Headquartered in Pointe-à-Pierre, its operations are mainly based in the island of Trinidad and the surrounding waters of the island of Tobago. Petrotrin operates the only petroleum refinery in the country, which has an average throughput of 112,974b/d. Petrotrin sells its products both locally and in the Caribbean, Latin America and the United States.
