Description:
US oil company ConocoPhillips Co. is an independent exploration and production firm based on proven reserves and production. The firm is located in Houston, Texas, and is engaged in the exploration, production, transportation, refining, processing, distribution and marketing of crude oil, gas and petroleum products. Through its subsidiary Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. LLC, it participates in the market for chemical and plastic products. It has operations and activities in 30 countries and as of December 31, 2012 it registered 8.6B0Mboe in proven reserves. In 2012 ConocoPhillips announced its decision not to go ahead with exploration in blocks 123 and 129 in Peru. The following year he sold his Trinidadian asset to the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Ltd., NGC. The company also sealed an agreement with Canacol Energy Ltd. to acquire a 70% interest in groundwater rights in the Santa Isabel block, located in Colombia's Magdalena Medio basin, which covers some 71,000 net acres. In 2014, seismic acquisition and processing continued. That same year, the oil company resorted to arbitration before the International Chamber of Commerce against the state oil company PDVSA in relation to the nationalization of its Petrozuata and Hamaca heavy crude projects in 2007. This case is added to the lawsuit that ConocoPhillips filed before the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) of the World Bank to obtain US$20bn compensation from Venezuela for appropriate assets.
