Costa Rica's new govt drafts Limón infra plans

Costa Rican President Carlos Alvarado, sworn in on May 8, met with the five lawmakers representing Limón province Wednesday to discuss potential projects for the region.

Boosting the development of the province on the Caribbean coast is a key priority for the Alvarado administration, according to a government release.

Without providing further details, the release said that the focus could rest on Atlantic coast port authority Japdeva, the route 32 highway, local railways, and water projects.

Japdeva's recently appointed president Greivin Villegas, who also attended the meeting, said that the entity's goal is to develop high-impact investment projects by taking advantage of the economic boost that will come with the completion of a container terminal operated by APM Terminals.

Villegas referred to a new cruise terminal and a tourist harbor as most likely projects.
