Demand growth in all types of consumers.

In XM we operate the National Interconnected System -SIN- and manage the Wholesale Energy Market -MEM-, joining forces with the different actors to deliver a reliable, economic and safe service to Colombians.

Below, we present the general results of the behavior of the country's energy demand in April 2019:

With a consumption of 5,834 GWh, the demand of electric power of the National Interconnected System in April grew 4.6% with respect to the same month of 2018 (in which it had grown by 1.6%), being located near the middle scenario of the demand forecasts of the Energy Mining Planning Unit - UPME.

It is important to bear in mind that the growth of energy demand is calculated as the weighted average of the growth of the different types of days (commercial, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays). This type of calculation decreases the fluctuations that occur in monthly follow-ups, caused by the dependence of energy consumption in relation to the number of days presented in the month of analysis.

Discriminated by type of consumer, in residential consumption and small businesses (regulated market) there was a growth of 5.3%; On the other hand, the consumption of industry and commerce (non-regulated market) grew by 3.4%.

In the first four months of 2019, the region with the highest demand growth was Oriente with a growth of 10.3%, followed by Guaviare with 7.2% and Tolima-Huila-Caquetá with 5.5%. With the exception of Chocó, all regions grew their demand above 1.9% compared to the same period of 2018. Similarly, the growth of the regions with the highest consumption is also noteworthy, namely: Valley with 4.5%, Caribbean with 5.3%, Centro with 2.7% and Antioquia with 2.4%.

The maximum power demand in April was 10,073 MW. It is noteworthy that since August 2018, the maximum power demand has continuously exceeded 10,000 MW, with the exception of January 2019, which was 9,973 MW.

Juan Carlos Morales, manager in charge of the National Dispatch Center of XM, reported that: "At the end of April 2019, the demand for energy from the National Interconnected System grew 4.6%, standing close to the average growth scenario of the UPME. The economic activity that stands out most for its growth in the unregulated market during April is Agriculture, livestock, hunting with 14.5%, followed by Construction, lodging, information and communications with 10.6%. On the other hand, the demand of the manufacturing industry, activity that represents 43% of the Unregulated demand, decreased by 2.1%. "
