The National Interconnected System Financial Operation Committee (COES) is a private Peruvian nonprofit organization made up of generators, distributors, and free users. Its main purpose is to coordinate the interconnected system short, medium and long-term operations in order to achieve the lowest possible operating costs while guaranteeing the security of the system and promoting the efficient use of energy resources. The committee is also responsible for the interconnected system's transmission planning and managing of the short-term market. The organization has close to 119 members. COES was founded in 1994 and is headquartered in Lima.
