With an investment of more than $81,000 million pesos, the Ministry of Mines and Energy, through the Fund for Non-Conventional Energies and Efficient Energy Management (FENOGE), will positively impact the quality of life of nearly 100,000 Colombians in the Valley from Cauca, Cauca, Chocó and Nariño; also to populations of the Zones Most Affected by the Conflict (ZOMAC) and municipalities with Development Programs with a Territorial Focus (PDET) with three programs called: 'Illuminating the Pacific', 'Respira Pacífico' and 'Challenges and energy needs in Colombia' .

'Iluminando al Pacífico', which seeks to benefit about 34,000 homes, will last for about a year and will begin its execution in the first quarter of 2023. It aims to reduce high energy consumption and, therefore, costs in the monthly energy bill electricity in the homes of users of strata 1 and 2 of the selected departments with technological substitution for residential lighting.

“With the substitution that 'Iluminando al Pacífico' will carry out, an annual energy saving of 3,000 MWh is estimated, which is equivalent to a potential saving of 102 kWh/year per user. This, without a doubt, will contribute to the economic savings of families of up to $35,000 pesos month by month in the service bill”, highlighted Juan Camilo Vallejo, Executive Director of Fenoge.

From the environmental point of view, it is estimated to mitigate the emission of approximately 437 tons of CO2 annually, thus contributing to the National Government's commitment to the fight against climate change.

With 'Respira Pacífico', Fenoge will replace, in an estimated 12 months from the start of activities in February 2023, up to 2,000 conventional wood stoves with efficient wood stoves to mitigate health problems for Colombians who still, due to practices ancestral or lack of resources, use rudimentary firewood stoves, in the departments of Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Nariño.

With an investment of $11,000 million, this pilot aims to reduce the consumption of firewood, reduce food cooking times and limit exposure to combustion gases from firewood in the stove, which will generate an impact Positive impact on the health of the beneficiaries and on the national health system due to the treatment of respiratory diseases derived from the use of firewood in traditional stoves.

With the program, energy savings of up to 16,000 MWh/year are estimated, which translates into about 274 tons of unused firewood annually, and it is also expected to impact the costs associated with the national health system, estimated at approximately $4,323 million. year.

With this solution it will be possible to reach an estimated saving of 28% of the consumption of firewood per home, which is equivalent to an energy saving of 700 kWh/month.

Finally, based on the results obtained from the 'Energy Challenges and Needs in Colombia' call, Fenoge will manage the implementation of comprehensive energy solutions to improve the living conditions of the communities most affected by violence and poverty in the country. (populations of Zomac and PDET territories).

"The National Government will implement this type of project focused on empowering the population, under the premise of self-managing energy justice within the framework of energy communities, with the purpose of encouraging efficient energy management and democratizing the service," he said. the Vice Minister of Energy, Belizza Ruiz.

From the development of this initiative, more than 250 buildings will benefit directly, the positive impact of which is transferred to more than 60,000 indirect users in 30 municipalities in the next two years, thus contributing to decent and fair access to fundamental services. such as health and education, two sectors that were prioritized in the results obtained in the call.

The commitment is to install more than 1,200 KWp during the first half of 2023 and close to 3,200 KWp during the 2024 term, as well as generate annual energy savings of more than 10.0 GWh and mitigate more than 2,000 tons of CO2 from the year 2025.
