Description:
Peru's water authority Autoridad Nacional del Agua (ANA), established in 2008 and attached to the agriculture ministry, develops policies and strategies for integrated water resources management. These include monitoring and administering water resources, controlling water use and distribution, granting water rights and treated waste water discharge and reuse permits and managing the National System for the Management of Hydrological Resources. It conducts its work through 14 water management authorities (AAA); 71 local water authorities (ALA); and 8 water resource basin councils (CRHC). ANA is based in Peruvian capital Lima.
