Description:
Chile's northern region II water utility Aguas de Antofagasta (Adasa) is engaged in potable water production and distribution, as well as wastewater collection, treatment and disposal. Its concession area includes the cities of Antofagasta, Calama, Mejillones, Taltal, and Tocopilla. Founded in 2003 and based in Antofagasta, the company's assets includes a treatment plant to purify water located in Taltal, as well as two other facilities in Calama and another in Antofagasta. Aguas de Antofagasta has 1,140km of pipelines to carry water from extraction points to treatment plants. In 2013, Adasa sold its subsidiary Atacama Agua y Tecnología to its controllers. In 2015, the firm was acquired by Colombian multi-utility Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) from its former owner, London-listed mining company Antofagasta plc. Antofagasta agreed to sell ADASA for US$965mn, the largest transaction of the Colombian group in its history. Adasa will be controlled through two EPM's Chilean subsidaries, Inversiones y Asesorías Hanover and Inversiones y Asesorías Pascua.
